Lanes came together in 2007, when two local practices joined forces on Green Lane.
Through all of that, the heart of the place has not really changed. Lanes is owned by the staff who work here, so we are answerable to clients and patients rather than to a corporate parent. The clinical team has full autonomy. No corporate drug list, no financial targets, just evidence-based care.
A hundred vets, nurses, receptionists and support staff now work across the four branches, and you will still see the same familiar faces every time you visit.

Every Lanes branch is a fully-equipped small animal surgery, with step-free access and onsite parking. Inpatients and out-of-hours emergencies are looked after at our Garstang surgery, by Lanes vets you already know.
All four Lanes surgeries have step-free access and accessible facilities. If you need specific help on arrival, please ring the branch ahead and we will make sure someone is ready to meet you.
Every branch has free client parking directly on site, including a small number of accessible bays close to reception.
Six of the largest corporate groups now own the majority of UK practices, laboratories and referral centres. We are not one of them. Lanes is owned by the staff who work within our walls, and that changes how everything works.

Most of our referrals never have to leave Lanes. Pets are looked after by familiar faces, with a continuous record, and owners do not have to make a long round-trip to another county. Our team and visiting specialists cover six disciplines in-house, and from late 2026 our own CT scanner and orthopaedic referral suite come online at Garstang.

Lanes is run by six owner-directors, all of whom you can actually meet in practice. Vets, nurses and managers who bought into Lanes because they love the place, and who still see clients and patients alongside running the business. It is the reason the practice has stayed independent for nearly twenty years.
