Welcome to Lanes Vets

At Lanes Vets, both our Small Animal Team and our Farm Vet Team aim to provide the best possible care for your animals and the best service to you as our client. We are a large practice which enables us to invest in skills and equipment but we are split into smaller teams to provide continuity of care and a personal service.

Our friendly and experienced Small Animal Team are dedicated to the care of your pet, offering the very best level of advice and treatment. We understand that your pet is an important family member and treat them as such. Our aim is to provide a high quality, cost effective service to keep your pets happy and healthier for longer.

Our small animal team cover 3 sites at Garstang, Poulton-Le-Fylde and Lancaster. Each surgery has it’s own team of dedicated vets. You can request your preferred vet meaning your pet is seen by a vet who knows them and their needs. We also provide our own out of hours service, so if you need us when the surgery is closed we have full access to your pets record and can provide continuous care.

We have a team with further qualifications and special interests in a number of areas across a range of skills. This allows us to cope with challenging cases in ophthalmology, dermatology, cardiology, dentistry and soft tissue surgery. We can provide imaging with ultrasound, radiography and endoscopy, pain or wound management with K-Laser, helping us to diagnose and treat your pet more effectively and getting them on the road to recovery more quickly.

We have 24 hour nursing care at our Garstang surgery. If your pet is poorly and needs admitting for treatment our nurses will be there to provide every comfort 24 hours a day.

Lanes Farm Vets have a dedicated team of farm animal vets providing cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We service a broad range of commercial farm and smallholder businesses as well as special interest enterprises.

All our farm animal vets are experienced in dealing with emergencies, our own vets cover out of hours emergencies as well as normal hours. We can provide routine fertility visits, herd health monitoring and disease investigation.

  • Mike Bevan, BVSc MRCVS

    Mike came over from Ireland in 1978 to study at Liverpool University and after qualifying in 1983, worked in mixed practice for five years before taking a year to travel the world with his now wife, Mandy, a fellow vet at Lanes.

  • Helen Whitaker, Large Animal Technician

    Helen is a Large Animal Technician and from a farming background, born and bred on the family dairy, beef and sheep farm. Helen moved back from the Canary Islands in 2011 to work at Lanes Vets after a 12 year period away.

  • Andrea Bookless MA, VetMB, CertVD, MRCVS

    Having spent most of her childhood messing around with the various animals at the family mixed beef and sheep farm near Manchester, Andrea chose to pursue her interests with a career in veterinary practice.

  • Lara Mayhew, BVSc MRCVS

    Lara qualified from Liverpool University Vet School in 1996 and has focused on small animal practice ever since. Lara joined Lanes Vets in 2009 and had the honour of being asked to join the partnership in 2014.

Lanes Vets Limited is registered by The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The RCVS register veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to practise in the UK, and regulate their educational, ethical and clinical standards.
